soss2 show update!
SINNERS!
Hope all of you are well! Sorry for the radio silence as of late, my hetero partner and myself have been dealing with sicknesses with him (not the C19 thank GOD!) and unemployment with me, but we are back on track and will be having an episode of the “Hey Pal, What’s New?” podcast live tomorrow before I head out for a much needed vacation before I continue my job market hunting.
Good news is that we have secured our location and date for SOSS2! Below is the flyer and the official date/location for the next showcase below:
What the stage looks like….it’s not MSG, but it works for us!
So on the flyer is the current list of bands that have confirmed with us that they can play. IF ANYONE ELSE WANTS TO BE ON THE BILL, PLEASE GET BACK TO US BY END OF MAY SO WE CAN START PROMOTING FIRST WEEK OF JUNE 2023!
Here is what we have in place so far for the event or the ideas that we have in motion:
SET TIMES/BACKLINE: Much like our first showcase, we plan on providing full backline for all of the bands so we can have smooth transitions between sets. That means please bring heads/effects for guitar cabinets, snare/cymbals/hardware for drums and of course your instruments. We will also provide sound, lights for the show.
Each band will have @ 45-minute sets with 15 minutes in-between for setup/breakdown.
PAYMENT: This will be a FREE event so NO SELLING TICKETS or being charged admission, I mean it’s an open field for god sakes! Nice right? Make sure to let your fans that are coming know this and to bring lawn chairs, blankets, whatever!
Downside of that though is we cannot pay bands for playing through ticket sales but…….
We will be providing “Donate Buckets” which means there will be buckets placed next to the stage when you are performing, as well as “Sack of Sin donate buckets” placed in various areas throughout the “venue” at places like food, merch, etc.
1) Any money collected in said bucket during your performance is 100% yours to keep. It will be emptied between sets and will be given to you to take after you are done.
2) Any money collected in the “Sack of Sin Donate Buckets” throughout the whole event the breakout will be as follows which will be provided at THE END OF THE EVENT.
$1 for each band
$2 for SOSE.
So do the math, say at the end of the night we collect $100 in donations in the “SOS Buckets” at the end of the night:
$50 goes to SOSE
@$8 goes to each artist in addition to what they collected during their set. ($50 divided by 6 artists ATM)
I know this part is not much at all, but it is something right?
WE ENCOURAGE EACH BAND TO NOT ONLY TELL THEIR FANS TO DONATE TO THEIR FAVORITE ACTS, BUT ALSO FOR THE OTHER BANDS ON THE BILL TO SUPPORT THE OTHER ACTS AND DONATE AS WELL.
Think about it, each band on the bill on average has 3-4 members, if each member of each band throws in even $2 to a band’s bucket during their performance, that band makes at least $40 (20 band members at $2 each) on top of whatever we make on the “overall buckets” Come on, you throw $2 after you bought a $10 drink at a club, why not give to the bands right?
MERCH TABLES: This is where you are going to make some $$ for this as well. We will provide a merch table(s) where each band can leave their stuff there to be sold. SOSE will NOT be taking a cut from the merch table this time, but you MUST have someone at the table to sell your wares. If you do NOT want to do so? Then we will have a “merch lady” who can sell for you and they WILL take $2 per item if you want. Please inquire with us if that’s what you want to do before the event.
MARKETING/ADVERTISING: Like we did last time, we will send out a Facebook event promoting the showcase, which will be boosted in the hopes of getting more eyes on it. PLEASE, pretty please…..
a) We will be adding each band as administrators to the event. PLEASE ACCEPT IT WHEN IT COMES IN SO YOU CAN INVITE YOUR FANS TO THE SHOWCASE! Last time, we did this and NOBODY ACCEPTED! We are spending $ to promote so we NEED you to accept and invite ALL your friends/family/mistresses to this ONE EVENT PROMO. This keeps 5-6 bands sending out their own and causing confusion out there. Plus it helps us know what the attendance “might” look like (you know how it goes).
b) Sack of Sin will be CO-Hosting this event with our pals at WXAX in order to get the word out! So that means both WXAX will be doing 60 second spots on their station about the show, plus we will be hyping the show constantly on our “Hey Pal, What’s New?” podcast, which goes LIVE on YouTube/Facebook Fridays and audio podcast version every Monday! We will be playing their spots on the podcast and vice versa. So, before the show if any of the bands want to make an appearance on the shows to promote this and whatever else you got going on please let us know and we can book it!
FOOD/DRINKS/ETC - We are currently looking into having some food trucks show up at the event to provide to the bands and attendees. IF ANYONE HAS CONNECTIONS ON THIS LET US KNOW! There is a spot for BBQ as well as bathrooms available on site, so BYOB if you want and we can look into providing some food/drinks for all of the bands as well.
That is all for now. More details as it gets closer, but any questions/feedback at all please feel free to contact us directly. All suggestions and ideas are ALWAYS welcome!
Much Love.
