JANUARY 2024 UPDATE
WELL HELLO SINNERS!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hope you all are doing well and that you are gearing up to have a great year of music and creating!
Just a “sort of” quick update to let you know what we are up to and to start generating some conversations from you all regarding 2024.
TALENT PURGE: As promised, last week I went through the talent roster, sent emails to the bands who were not being active (meaning no posts to the group, no responses to emails, etc.) and removed them from the site. Of course if they plead their case, we can add them back and no big deal, we just wanted to only keep the artist who are actively engaging with the rest of us, I don’t want to recommend talent for things if they are not going to be responsive. UPDATES TO THE SITE: Speaking of which, I went through and tried to add some more updated info as far as socials, new videos, etc. to keep it fresh. If you have any new artwork such as pictures, music, etc. you want to include please email me directly with your stuff and I will make sure to add this week - me@gregry13.com or reply to the link gregry.gilroy@me.com
I will also be changing the “upcoming events” page this week to include ALL of the gigs that you guys have coming up (even if it is not SOSE showcase affiliated) when I see them and send weekly to the group page. If you do have any that I don’t catch that you want me to include, please post on the group page or email directly and I will make sure it’s on there. This will also include new music releases.
NEW TALENT: So for 2024, we will also be launching another promo to search for new talent to include in the talent roster to get some fresh blood in there who want to be actively involved in growing the scene! If you personally know any talent that you think would be interested, please have them submit their info to the “GET INVOLVED:” link, or as always, let us know.
2024 SHOWCASES: Starting in February we will begin to reach out to local venues to start planning SOSS3 (and hopefully more this year) and once I receive responses I will be sending over available dates. if you want to be involved PLEASE let us know. Also, if you have recommendations on where you want us to reach out to please let us know your recommendations as well. Would love to do one CT, one NY, one NJ?
MERCH PAGE: Yes kids, we do have our own merch page on the site that includes unique designs from bands, the podcasts, etc. (ok so right now only our stuff) but it would be nice to include special designs from the talent that you can ONLY get there. If you would like to submit a design to include on the page send to us and we can include. It’s not a huge payout (artist will make @ $3-$5 per item sold and earnings will be reported and paid to you quarterly) but it costs you and us ZERO to put up there and technically ZERO effort really on your part.
BECOME “STAFF”: As stated last time, we are looking to grow this site and make it as successful as we can for not only ourselves (duh) but for YOU and the community as well! But, we could always use some solders.
So we are looking for any of you who want to be more involved in the talent search, showcases, even artist development so we can help each band/artist grow and get the word out to the area at large! Ideally it would be specific dedicated people to a specific genre where artists can contact directly and of course, with membership it has it’s privileges. This includes:
1) Having a dedicated contact profile on the page where contacts can speak to you directly. Complete with your mug shot, contact info, etc.
2) Compensation for generating new artists, booking events, etc. will result in 15% commission of total sales generated for said artist/event. so for example, if you bring an artist to us and they sign up for anything such as photo shoots, pressing, or if you put together an event, you will be paid for your efforts.
