The Critically Ashamed

Formed in the beginning of 2015, Lead vocalist and songwriter Greg Gilroy after releasing his debut solo album “HEAL” independently needed to start from scratch and assemble a band in order to play the songs from the album live.

Dubbed “Greg Gilroy & The Critically Ashamed Band” Greg enlisted a number of revolving door musicians over the years to help support the releases.

First being lead guitarist Helene Logan, who responded to an online ad on a musician website Greg posted and is the only original member in the current lineup and a force to be reckoned with live!

Next came bassist Shawn Finney, who although has played in projects with Greg on and off over the past 20+ years playing either lead guitar or keyboards, decided to join the fold playing bass and brings his studio ear, arrangement skills and overall low-end style to the shows.

Finally in the beginning of 2018, Greg recruited drummer Gary Sofko who after promising to fill in for some commitments the band had, joined the band full time and helped Greg complete his last studio album “Glamour & Filth” lending his amazing percussion ability, as well as his own mixing/mastering and recording skills to take the band to a new level.

After releasing a live album in March 2019 called “All the Clams…LIVE!” which was recorded by Gary and mixed by Shawn at an album release party, after having this lineup for over 2 years playing live shows all over the tri-state area the band became more of a solid unit. The contributions, style and performance of each individual member outweighed the sum of only one focal point.

With their self-titled first full-length album under The Critically Ashamed released in the height of the of the pandemic in 2020 and a follow-up to be released in the Spring of 2023, the band is excited to get back on the road and support the albums playing live again!
